SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Fred Gilmore, an iconic figure in the history of Booker High School... And the City of Sarasota, has died.
Gilmore graduated from BHS in 1984 and later returned to his alma mater, where he was a coach in football, baseball, and weightlifting for 32 years.
He also had a stint as the school’s athletic director.
He’s mostly known for what he did as the school’s head football coach for ten years from 2002 to 2012.
He coached the Tornadoes to the state championship game during the 2005 season, where they fell short against St. Augustine.
Booker High School released a statement on social media saying,
