SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - With Gabrielle soon to be named in the central Atlantic and another tropical wave coming off the coast of Africa it looks like the quiet season will start to ramp up over the upcoming weeks.
According to the Climate Prediction Center we have a low chance of something developing in the Gulf or the west Caribbean in the next few weeks. Don’t forget that both Helene and Milton formed after Sept. 24th.
This has been one of the quietest times ever during the peak of hurricane season. We haven’t had a named storm since August 28th. This is only the second time time since 1950 that there are no named storms in the Atlantic between Aug. 29 and Sept. 15, according to Colorado State University senior research scientist Phil Klotzbach.
