KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The University of Tennessee said Monday a faculty member is expected to be fired after endorsing violence and murder. It comes after U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Knoxville) said on social media he had gotten involved in complaints over an assistant professor’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s death, though the university has not confirmed which specific staff member is under investigation.
“The university has taken swift action against a faculty member who has failed to meet our expectations for civil engagement,” the university’s statement said. “The faculty member is out of the classroom, placed on administrative leave, and termination proceedings have begun.”
