TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Fire and Rescue (TFRD) facilities remained on lockdown Monday, a precautionary and proactive move the department said it started on Friday.

This comes after the department said it is conducting an internal investigation into a member’s alleged social media post about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk .

TFRD said the lockdown is precautionary and that no threats to the department have been received.

"We are on lockdown just for safety precautions. We have not had a threat to any fire personnel. We are just being proactive," a TFRD spokesperson told WTOL 11.

Generally under a lockdown condition, bay doors cannot be left open unattended and firefighters are asked to maintain heightened awareness. Emergency runs and operations continue as norm
