Could Warren be at the forefront of new state legislation allowing municipalities to merge their zoning and planning boards into one entity, the aim of which would be to condense permitting procedures and allow a singular path for future development?

The topic was broached in some detail for the first time at the town council meeting Tuesday night, Sept. 9.

During a brief discussion on the matter at a previous meeting, some objections to the potential move were made initially by residents and members of other town committees.

Last week, Town Solicitor Anthony DeSisto led the body through an overview of the details of the law, saying its something the General Assembly had been contemplating for a while before its recent passage.
