AMHERST, Mass. —

Recently retired Apple executive Daniel Riccio Jr. is giving the University of Massachusetts Amherst a $50 million gift, the largest in campus history.

Riccio, who graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1986 and a master's degree in manufacturing engineering in 2024, spent 26 years with Apple. In recognition of his gift, the university will establish the Daniel J. Riccio Jr. College of Engineering. Latest Forecast
