MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A new Sonic Drive-In is planned for a major East Memphis corner, according to plans submitted Friday on behalf of the owner.

The restaurant is proposed for a 1-acre vacant lot at the southwest corner of Poplar and Yates, which previously was home to a Wendy's

The site plan is under review by city planners.

Last month, plans were filed for Memphis' first In-N-Out Burger just a few blocks west on Poplar from the proposed Sonic site.
