HOUSTON, Texas (KLTV) - Former Tatum Eagle Kendric Malone blocked two punts, both returned for touchdowns, in Lamar’s 31-7 win over Texas Southern on Saturday.

The Southland Conference named Malone the special teams player of the week for his performance. Malone’s first resulted in the first score of the game before Lamar’s offense could take the field. The second came at the beginning of the second quarter, and put Lamar up 21-7.

Aiden McCown (Rusk) got the start at quarterback and was 12-of-22 for 81 yards and an interception. On the ground, he scored a touchdown and had seven rushes for 52 yards.

Peyton Christian (Kilgore) had three tackles and a sack. Devyn Gibbs (Mabank) had two catches for 31 yards. Mar Mar Evans (Center) had a tackle. Zaylon Stoker (Kilgore) had two tackles.
