CONCORD, N.H. —

A man who was charged with robbery and kidnapping a gas station clerk in Concord pleaded guilty Monday.

Police said John Donnell targeted the clerk, who was his former roommate.

The victim spoke during the plea hearing Monday and said he hopes Donnell is able to change his life.

According to prosecutors, police officers were flagged down on April 9, 2024, by a clerk at a Shell gas station in Concord who said he had escaped after being handcuffed and put in a car with a bag over his head.

Donnell admitted in court Monday that he was responsible. His attorney said Donnell's life started to unravel because of drug use.
