A juvenile was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle during a street takeover in Shelton on Sunday.

Emergency crews responded to a parking lot at 862 Bridgeport Ave. at 1:30 a.m. on the report of someone being struck by a vehicle during a takeover and found several drivers fleeing the area, according to Det. Christopher Nugent of the Shelton Police Department .

Crews located the boy who had reportedly been struck by a vehicle that was being driven recklessly in the parking lot, Nugent said. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital. His condition was not immediately clear.

Police are investigating the incident and have released a photo of a vehicle. Nugent said investigators are seeking information about the car.
