A child was struck by a vehicle during a street takeover in Shelton early Sunday morning and he has serious injuries, according to police. They are asking anyone who has information to come forward.

Officers and EMS responded to the parking lot of 862 Bridgeport Ave. around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when they received a report that a vehicle hit someone during a street takeover and they found an injured child.

Several vehicles leaving and police said they received reports that a reckless driver in the parking lot had struck the boy. The child was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Shelton Police are investigating.
