CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga County Jail Warden Alfred Wilcox has resigned, leaving another high-profile opening at the sheriff's department.
In a letter sent to Sheriff Harold Pretel and other county leaders, Wilcox said, "I feel that the time has come for me to take a step back, focusing on my family and reflecting on what lies ahead." His last day was Sept. 2.
"I wish you and the entire team continued success in the future," Wilcox wrote. "God bless."
Wilcox became the permanent replacement for Jeremy Everett, who was forced to resign in August 2023 after just six months on the job. He shared responsibilities with fellow Warden Michelle Henry, who has held her position since 2020 .
