WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Willoughby police say a suspect is in custody and one victim was airlifted to the hospital following a shooting near The Hamlets apartment complex Monday afternoon.

According to a press release from the department, reports of gunfire first came in from Fox Run Drive just before 4 p.m. A 20-year-old man was eventually located and taken by ambulance to University Hospitals Lake West Medical Center before being transported by helicopter to UH Cleveland Medical Center. His condition is currently unknown.

At roughly 6:30 p.m., authorities captured and arrested the suspect in the shooting. The release emphasized that "there is no indication of any ongoing threat to the public."
