PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Thompson man is in custody in Plainfield after police said he was caught driving on the wrong side of Interstate 395 with a blood alcohol content that was more than three times the legal limit.
According to Connecticut State Police, troopers began receiving reports of a white pickup truck driving the wrong way on I-395 South in Plainfield near exit 29 at around 1:51 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Two troopers responded to the area, found the truck and pulled over the driver, identified as 23-year-old Benjamin Benoit of Thompson. When the troopers made contact with Benoit, he was "actively engaged in a phone call using a handheld cell phone" and it was determined that his truck was not registered.
