A driver who killed two people and injured four others at 24th Street and Broadwater Avenue last September was sentenced to 35 years in Montana State Prison Monday.
Before the crash, Ricky Ladell Buckhanan, 33, was threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend if she left his car. She secretly called 911 recording him counting down, saying that when he got to zero, he would shoot her. Billings Police soon arrived at the scene, a parking lot on the 2800 block of Broadwater Avenue. Buckhanan, seeing the officers, shoved the woman out of the sedan and drove off.
Buckhanan sped down Broadwater Avenue at 70 miles-per-hour before colliding with a SUV while he tried to go through a red light. In the SUV were Shirley Ann Rogers, 78, and her only child, Michal Shane Rogers, 54; both died at the scene,
