Penn State senior Levi Haines claimed the silver medal in the 79 kg freestyle competition at the Senior World Wrestling Championships on Monday in Zagreb, Croatia
Haines, a three-time NCAA All-American and a 2024 national champ, dropped a 3-2 decision to Georgios Kougioumtsidis of Greece in the gold medal match.
Kyle Snyder, a member of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, moved into the gold medal match at 97 kg by defeating Japan’s Arash Yoshida 9-1 in a semifinal match.
Snyder will face Amirali Azarpira of Iran for the gold on Tuesday.
In another gold medal match of note Monday, Mifflin County grad Trent Hidlay rallied from 10-2 down to defeat Amanula Gadzhimagomedov 13-10 at 92 kg.
Hidlay wrestled at NC State.
