DULUTH — The Duluth Preservation Alliance decided to look toward the west this year when planning its annual Historic Properties Tour. All of the houses, businesses and community locations on this year's tour will be on the western side of the city.

"We often like to show off the big, pretty mansions on the eastern side of town," said DPA board member Blake Romenesko. "But Duluth's history and architectural legacy is more than that. And we value preservation matters all across Duluth, so we wanted to feature that."

Some of the homes on the tour date back to the 1890s to the 1920s.

"They're more of the working to middle-class style houses, which is a little different than usual," Romenesko said. But they also tell a different story of Duluth."

The tour runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunda
