After a grueling election cycle over the summer, a winner has been named in the race for animal mayor of the Somerville Community Path.
A longhaired black cat named Minerva has been elected to govern the bike path. Her platform was simply "crime".

The kitty clawed her way to the front of the pack, beating out dozens of other felines, a few dogs, a parrot, a guinea pig and even a couple of reptiles.
People in Somerville say the race was a perfect way to have some fun and bring the neighborhood together.
