Recruiting parking wardens has been a struggle for the council and jobs will have to be re advertised as part of a huge recent hiring spree.

announced about 350 jobs were up for grabs in March across cleansing, parking, parks and roads.

So far 90 per cent of cleansing, parks, pest control and roads jobs have been filled.

But only 34 candidates have been hired to fill 100 parking warden posts despite 300 applicants turning up at jobs fairs for the role.

Councillor Laura Doherty said it has been challenging to recruit parking wardens.

She said: "As of now 90 per cent of the posts in cleansing, parks, pest control and roads have been filled with most staff either fully deployed or completing final induction and training.
