TOWN OF WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - The town of Watertown wants to build a new road, but lawmakers say they aren’t getting cooperation from a certain business.

Now the town is moving forward with using eminent domain to put the road in by Sam’s Club. It’ll connect County Route 202 with Arsenal Street. Eminent domain is something the town hasn’t used in decades, if ever.

At the intersection of County Route 202 and Arsenal Street, things can get a little congested. But the town of Watertown is looking to fix that and has been for a while.

“The concept was put together several years ago. It has taken this long to put the plans in action and move forward on the project,” said Joel Bartlett, town supervisor.
