HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - Concerns from the public and recent crashes in Owensboro, especially on the Bypass, have caused an increase in law enforcement on U.S. 60 to try and curtail further incidents.

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office says during a three-day period, September 10-12, the patrol division conducted a speed zone enforcement detail on the Bypass. This resulted in several traffic stops, and during the operation 32 citations were issued for speeding, 16 for other offenses and several written warnings.

Officials state Sheriff Brad Youngman, Daviess County Judge Executive Charlie Castlen, State Representatives Suzanne Miles and DJ Johnson, Public Safety Director Jeremy Smith and personnel with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be meeting next week to discuss potential safe
