GREAT BARRINGTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Officials said dry conditions have persisted across the entire northeast. New York's Capital Region is experiencing a moderate drought and in Massachusetts they’re calling it a significant drought. Officials urge residents to conserve water.

Great Barrington is one town that’s urged its residents to preserve and protect their water supply. Those residents noticed parts of the Housatonic River can be crossed, without getting your feet wet.

That’s partly why town officials have urged residents to conserve water. Great Barrington, and most of Massachusetts, experiencing a level 2 “significant drought” status.
