NEENAH, Wis. (WBAY) - A business owner in Neenah is speaking out on Tuesday after the city threatened to use eminent domain against her landlord, a legal move that allows the government to take private land for public use.

In this case, the City of Neenah wants a portion of the parking lot for a street project.

The city council will take up the issue during a special meeting on Wednesday, but there’s a verbal agreement city officials hope will avoid the necessity for eminent domain to be enforced, even if the council gives the green light.

The owner of The Saucy Kitchen on West Winneconne Avenue had no idea the city was planning an eminent domain vote to acquire land that makes up a portion of her parking lot.
