SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - New College of Florida announced Tuesday it plans to commission a statue of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk to be erected on campus.
The idea for the statue came from several sources, said Will Witt, the chief social media officer and director of public policy events for New College.
“Really, just an outpouring from all sorts of people. Students, faculty, staff, the community,” Witt told ABC7. “People were saying this might be something we should do, and New College went ahead and did it.”
Kirk, 31, was shot and killed by a high-powered hunting rifle Sept. 10 at a “Prove me Wrong” campus event at Utah Valley University.
