The Abilene Cowboys had to hold off the Chapman Irish on their final offensive possession of the game to secure a 16-12 victory on the road Friday night. With the win, the Cowboys earned their fourth straight victory over the Irish, and their first win of the young season.
In what is expected between the two teams whenever they play each other, excitement and momentum ended up a big part of the outcome of the game.
Neither offense would put together sustaining offensive drives in the first quarter, and the score would remain scoreless at 0-0. Three consecutive turnovers early in the second quarter by both teams would hinder the offenses.
It would begin with an Irish fumble recovered by Abilene defensive back Dayven Cuba, an interception in the end zone by Chapman defensive back Dominic
