Killer mushroom cook Erin Patterson could spend more time behind bars as Victoria's Department of Public Prosecutions weighs up whether to appeal the court's minimum sentence.

Patterson is currently serving a minimum jail sentence of 33 years in prison for murdering three relatives of her estranged husband by serving them a lethal mushroom lunch.

The beef wellington meal, held at Patterson's house in the regional Victorian town of Leongatha two years ago, was laced with death cap mushrooms.

In a fresh twist, the Victorian Department of Public Prosecutions is considering to appeal Patterson's sentence, according to The Herald Sun.

The publication reports that prosecutors were underwhelmed with the sentence imposed by Justice Christopher Beale.
