Coventry police have issued an urgent message to university students and school children. The city centre team have issued a community appeal aimed specifically at those who go to university or school in the city and ride a bike.

This is due to risks of bike thefts, so officers have urged issued some tips in a bid to stop anyone becoming a victim. The appeal states: "With the new school/university year starting we would like to share a quick one minute read with regards to pedal cycle theft prevention."

It urges school and university students to take a number of measures, including never leaving a bike unlocked even if they are popping into the shop for a quick item.
