HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Two people, including a 5-year-old child, were injured Tuesday evening in a collision involving a scooter and an SUV.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Broad Street and Mountford Street around 6:56 p.m.

According to fire officials, the child had been thrown from the scooter just before the impact.

Both the child and the adult male operating the scooter sustained minor injuries.

The victims were treated on scene by EMS personnel and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

No extrication was required, officials said.

The Hartford Police Department is investigating the crash.
