MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — An individual was taken to the hospital Wednesday after a shooting involving Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputies in the West Valley area.

MCSO said deputies responded to the Waddell community for reports of a "suicidal subject" on White Tank Mountain Road. Upon arrival, a subject allegedly pointed a firearm at the deputies, resulting in him being shot.

The individual was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. MCSO said no deputies were injured.

The sheriff's office has not disclosed how many shots were fired nor how many deputies fired their firearm.
