JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. —

New signs are coming to Interstate 22.

ALDOT crews will begin replacing traffic signs along I-22 from the Mississippi state line to I-65 in Birmingham as part of a $1.71 million project.

The project spans 96 miles and includes adding new traffic counters in Jefferson County.

Crews are expected to start work Sept. 22 and continue until fall 2026, with minimal delays anticipated.
