Neighbors call for demolition of abandoned house on Warrior Road

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

Neighbors along Warrior Road in Birmingham are calling for the city to demolish a condemned house that has become a safety concern due to squatters and visible neglect.

"Our main concern here in the neighborhood is safety, the biggest thing is safety. His room is directly by this house," said Brittany Fuller, who lives next door with her grandmother and six-year-old son.

She described how squatters have been coming and going over the years, sometimes causing disturbances that require police intervention.

"As you can see, all the windows are burst out on the side of the house," Fuller said.

Dionne Eley, another neighbor, recounted her uncomfortable encounters with squatters.

"I've had two in the previous years, they come out to come across the street and act crazy;
