AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 7, the Woman and Child Protection Act, into law on Wednesday.

The new law is one of the nation's strongest measures against the illegal trafficking of abortion pills in Texas. While the state already has the Texas Heartbeat Law and has outlawed most abortions since the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade, some women have been able to get abortion pills sent directly to their homes after ordering them online.
