Mohawk College has cancelled fall graduation ceremonies as a provincewide support staff strike enters its second week.

The school announced the “difficult decision” late Friday afternoon, saying in a statement the cancellation only affects the ceremony scheduled for Oct. 16.

“Graduates will still receive their credentials, and they will be invited to take part in the Convocation ceremonies in June 2026,” spokesperson Sean Coffey said over email. “Convocation is a special event that takes many people to plan and deliver. With limited staff available, we need to prioritize our efforts on ensuring that every graduate receives their credentials without delay.”
