Every day, police officers respond to reports of all sorts of events and nonevents, most of which never make the news. Here is a sampling of lesser-known — but no less noteworthy — incidents from police log books (a.k.a. blotters) in our communities.

WIND BENEATH MY WINGS

On the morning of July 2, Wellesley police Officer Scott Wagner and Animal Control Officer Jenny Smith rescued an injured hawk on Route 9 at the Longfellow pumping station. Smith took the hawk to Tufts Wildlife Clinic in Grafton where it was cared for and made a full recovery. Smith recently had the honor of releasing the bird back into the wild, and the heartwarming moment when the hawk took flight was captured on video for all to see.
