It was far from perfect, but the Montana State football team got back to .500 with a 17-0 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.

The No. 4-ranked Bobcats (2-2) moved the ball well on offense in the first 2.5 quarters but had to settle for a field goal following multiple mistakes by quarterback Justin Lamson near the end zone. Lamson also threw an interception in Mercyhurst territory during the third quarter.

Despite the low point total, the Lakers (1-3) marched down the field on nearly every drive. They came up empty on all three drives that ended in the red zone, opting to keep the offense on the field for fourth downs rather than kick field goals and getting denied by MSU’s bend-don’t-break defense.
