The Danville and Pittsylvania County area became the state’s fastest-growing destination for tourism in 2024, local officials reported based on revenue figures.

Regional spending reached $275.2 million last year, which is a 23.5% jump from the previous year.

The report was released on Thursday by the economic development and tourism office in Danville.

The new $750 million Caesars Virginia resort, which opened in December, was listed as one of the offerings that elevated the region, but the report did not specifically outline the casino’s role in the tourism spending jump.

Previously, a temporary version operated out of what appeared to be a giant tent-like structure.
