A group devoted to ridding Pittsylvania County of unsightly trash along roadways will host another cleanup week next month.

The weeklong event is planned for Oct. 6 through 11, where residents are encouraged to spruce up areas around their property and along the road.

The county plans to waive the tipping fee at the landfill located at 382 Rainbow Lane in Dry Fork from Oct. 6-10 for things like home remodeling materials, limbs and tires. The fee waiver applies only to county residents.

The week culminates with a countywide cleanup day scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 11. A designated spot will be selected throughout the county’s seven districts where residents will walk alongside roads armed with safety vests, large bags and a grabber tool to pick up litter.
