Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) repeatedly dodged answering when he could endorse Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani on Sunday, saying he will “continue talking to him.”
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) endorsed Mamdani on Sept. 14, joining the likes of Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in backing the socialist candidate. Schumer said he’s had “a good relationship” with Mamdani and the two had a good meeting with “a lot of serious questions” but only promised to continue talks with the mayoral candidate when asked about an endorsement.
