An Evansville police officer is in stable condition following a shootout.
According to EPD, a stolen vehicle was located by officers at Rally’s on Virginia Street around 1:30 Sunday morning.
When officers approached the car, the two suspects inside ran away.
One of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired at officers, hitting one of them.
Police returned fire, hitting the suspect.
The second suspect, a juvenile, was located and taken into custody.
Police Chief Philip Smith says that a press briefing will be held today to address the specifics of the incident.
