MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - The motorcycle rider who died Sunday was traveling westbound on E 1/4 Road when he tried to negotiate a curve, which resulted in him driving off the roadway.
The Colorado State Patrol stated the single-vehicle crash happened around 4:30 a.m. and involved a 26-year-old Clifton man who was riding a Harley Davidson Sportster 1205.
After driving off the road, the motorcycle struck a fire hydrant and then hit a concrete barrier, causing the bike to go airborne, according to CSP. The motorcycle continued traveling before striking concrete stairs and continued west.
The bike then struck a chain link fence before overturning one-half times. The motorcycle came to a rest on its right side.
The rider was pronounced dead on the scene.
The identity of the rider will be
