KOCHVILLE TWP, MI – Saginaw Valley State University experienced overall enrollment growth for the fall 2025 semester, with 6,906 students taking classes compared to 6,822 students a year ago, despite a slight decline in first-year student numbers.
The university welcomed 1,336 freshmen this fall, representing a 2.1% decrease from the 1,365 first-time students who enrolled last year. However, gains in other areas more than offset this decline as the fall semester began Aug. 25.
“We are thrilled to be reporting enrollment growth and to see the fruits of our labor paying off,” Ken Fettig, SVSU vice president for enrollment management, said in a statement. “We have seen a tremendous amount of determined focus on students’ success by our faculty and staff, and that resulted in more transfer s
