A recreational cannabis dispensary is setting up shop in a downtown Minneapolis building that's currently occupied by a Pizza Hut.

The 4,300-square-foot building at 1101 Hennepin Ave. sold for just over $1.5 million in early September, according to a Minnesota Department of Revenue filing.

Pizza Hut's lease ends in February, then work will get underway to transform the space from a restaurant into a retail storefront, a broker who represented the seller told the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

The new building owner is a Louisiana-based businessman who operates Cali Smoke Shop and Cali CBD & Vape Inc. He appears to be represented by Minneapolis law firm Vicente LLP, which specializes in cannabis law and corporate services.
