In coordination with its sister club, Rotary Club de Pico, Bristol Rotary held a Fado Night fund-raiser at the Bristol Sports Club to help bring hope, safety and comfort to children in need on the island of Pico, Açores.

This year, the Obra Social Madre Maria Clara is facing an urgent crisis. Two of its residential shelter centers — home to 24 children, teens and young adults who have endured abandonment, neglect or abuse — are in desperate need of repair. Leaky roofs and even open holes in ceilings threaten the safety and comfort of the young residents. And with more children arriving this fall, the need for immediate action is critical.
