COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) —Welcome to fall! Fall began today at 2:19 PM EDT and while the season has changed, it will take some time for the temperatures to reflect the actual season. Highs will remain in the low to middle 90s for Tuesday and Wednesday with sunny skies, clouds will begin to increase by late Wednesday but we will stay dry.

Tracking a cold front by Thursday and the end of the week, this front will drop our temperatures down into the 80s but it will also bring us a chance of much needed rainfall. We've been dry over the last few weeks with only 0.39" inches of rain reported at the Columbus Regional Airport. Expect roughly 0.50" to 1 inch of rain Thursday through early Saturday morning.
