CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The trial for a Charlotte man accused of crashing into a parked MEDIC vehicle and seriously injuring several people is now underway, court documents show.
The trial officially began on September 15. This comes after the suspect, Brian Chukwuemeka Ogbonna,'s plea deal was rejected back in March.
On May 12, 2023, a 2016 Nissan Altima, driven by then-19-year-old Ogbonna, crashed into a Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency (MEDIC) truck as an emergency crew was treating a patient at North Tryon and West Mallard Creek Church Road.
A MEDIC employee suffered life-threatening injuries, and another sustained serious injuries in the crash. Ogbonna and the patient, who was being treated by the crew for a non-related incident, were both taken to the hosp
