The mother of a Darwin dancer who spent more than six hours waiting for an ambulance after dislocating her knee has flagged serious concerns about the resourcing of the Northern Territory's medical services.
Monique Dries, 20, was performing at a dance competition at a Darwin hotel on Saturday night when she fell to the ground.
"It wasn't until I started screaming in pain that they thought it wasn't a cramp, it was something more," she said.
Her mother Rebecca Davis called for an ambulance straight after, at about 8:15pm.
She said the call operator advised Ms Dries should not be moved or be given any food or pain medication until paramedics arrived.
"I was lying on that stage floor for like four hours, I was cold … probably because I was also in shock as well," Ms Dries said.
