Members of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s family and inner circle are still being financially targeted by federal prosecutors more than a decade after being convicted of crimes stemming from a City Hall corruption scandal.
One person who appears to be free from restitution collection, however, is Kwame Kilpatrick.
Prosecutors are seizing portions of paychecks, garnishing bank accounts and investigating the finances of people close to Kilpatrick while trying to collect unpaid taxes and restitution owed to Detroit taxpayers. That group includes his father, Bernard Kilpatrick, former Detroit Treasurer Jeffrey Beasley and ex-city contractor Bobby Ferguson.
