CHICO, Calif. — A Chico man was arrested for murder following a shooting on Monday. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call around 4:54 p.m. on the 2600 block of West Sacramento Avenue.

Sheriff’s office officials stated that on-scene deputies found 54-year-old Lenny Doe, deceased from gunshot wounds. The suspect, 35-year-old Matthew Theobald, was identified as Doe's son.

According to the sheriff's office, Theobald was on active California State Parole. Deputies discovered shotgun shells in his pocket during a search. Detectives obtained a search warrant and found a shotgun on the property, linking Theobald to the shooting. He was arrested for murder.
