AUSTIN, Texas — Officials with the agency that manages the Texas power grid say demand for energy is growing and power generators are working to keep up.
Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) officials say this summer, temperatures in Texas weren't as hot as they have been in the past couple of years. They were about average.
Despite that, energy consumption actually increased by about 10% compared to 2023.
ERCOT says the most recent winters have been relatively mild too. But as demand climbs due to population growth and data centers using more power, the power supply needs to grow consistently to match that.
