OLYMPIA, Wash. — The price of an annual Discover Pass will increase by $15 starting Oct. 1, according to Washington State Parks.

The pass currently costs $30. It will be $45 starting next month.

The increase was approved by the state Legislature in April and signed by Gov. Bob Ferguson in May. It's the first price increase since the pass was implemented in 2011, according to Washington State Parks.

The Discover Pass provides a year of unlimited entry to all areas managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, Fish and Wildlife and Department of Natural Resources.

Just over 70% of Washington State Parks' operating budget comes from the Discover Pass sales and earned revenue. The revenue from the pass sales stays within the agency.
